China is about to be transporting almost 45 million cubic meters of water per year through the three canals connecting the large water reserves in the south of the country to the large population in the north.
High-speed railway, United States of America
The state of California has started the construction of a brand new high-speed train since 2015. The project is expected to be completed in the next ten years. They are aiming to connect the following cities in the state: Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, Merced, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Corona, Murrieta, Escondido, San Diego, Fresno, San Jose and San Francisco.
Great Man-Made River Project, Libya
Libya is a large country in the northern part of Africa. Its population is primarily centered at the coastal area. This is because, for the most part, the country is located in the Sahara desert. In order to be able to cultivate large portions of the country, it is essential for the government to transport fresh water to the drier regions. The Libyan government started this large irrigation project in 1985. When completed in presumably 2030, it will irrigate more than 350,000 acres of land. Additionally it will be providing fresh drinking water to citizens in urban centers.
